Timothy C. Peck, MD
COFOUNDER & CEO
Timothy C. Peck, MD, is the cofounder and CEO of Call9. Prior to cofounding Call9, Peck earned his M.D. from NYU then held a faculty position at Harvard Medical School and was the Chief Resident in the Emergency Department at Beth Israel Deaconess/Harvard.
While at Beth Israel Deaconess, Peck repeatedly encountered the challenge of treating patients who would have had superior outcomes had he and his team been able to treat them earlier. After investigating this problem, Peck learned that 1) despite making up only 0.5% of the population, Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF or nursing home) patients make up nearly 20% of ambulance transfers to the ED, and 2) the average time it takes for a patient to see an Emergency Medicine physician is 64 minutes. In learning the scope of the problem, Peck set out to solve it.
Call9 has created a new way of delivering and practicing Emergency Medicine through a high-tech, high-touch, multidisciplinary care model. Peck’s efforts to develop Call9 coalesced when the company went through Y Combinator’s accelerator program in the summer of 2015. Shortly thereafter Call9 received its Series A funding led by Index Ventures and announced in January of 2016. In September 2017, Call9 announced a $24M Series B financing round led by Redmile Group. In 2017, Call9 delivered life-changing care to more than 3,500 patients, while more than tripling the number of SNFs served and more than quadrupling the amount of beds covered. In 2018, the company expects to best each of those numbers as Call9 goes to scale throughout New York and beyond.
